Former Robert Lee Fire Chief Dies After 31 Years of Service

ROBERT LEE, TX — The Robert Lee Volunteer Fire Department announced the death of former Chief Ross Torres, who served the department for 31 years, including 13 as fire chief. 

Torres was remembered as more than a chief. He was a mentor, brother and leader whose dedication, knowledge and passion for the fire service left a lasting impact on those who served alongside him, the department said in a statement Monday.

“Chief Torres’ legacy will live on through the firefighters he mentored, the lives he touched, and the department he helped shape,” the statement stated. “He will never be forgotten, and his memory will forever remain a part of the Robert Lee Volunteer Fire Department.”

The department asked the community to keep the Torres family and the entire fire department in their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

“Rest easy, Chief. Thank you for your 31 years of service, your 13 years of leadership as Chief, and for everything you gave to this community. We’ll take it from here. Your watch is over, but your legacy will live on forever,” the statement concluded. 

The Dove Creek Volunteer Fire Department also offered condolences, saying its members were honored to have worked with Torres. 

“The Torres family is in our hearts today," Dove Creek officials stated. "We stand with our brothers and sisters to honor his 31 years of service to his community."
