MIDLAND, TX — A magnitude 3.1 earthquake struck West Texas on Tuesday afternoon, causing light shaking in parts of the region but no reported damage or injuries.
The U.S. Geological Survey reported the temblor occurred at 4:10 p.m. Tuesday about 7 miles west-southwest of Stanton, just north of Interstate 20.
Residents reported feeling light shaking in Dix, Germania and eastern sections of Midland.
TexNet, the state’s seismological network, recorded several smaller earthquakes in the same area after Tuesday’s event.
