Angelo State's Canon Wiese Named LSC Offensive Player of the Week

RICHARDSON, TX — Angelo State senior running back Canon Wiese has been named the Lone Star Conference Offensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday.

Wiese, an interdisciplinary studies major, became the second Angelo State player to earn LSC weekly honors this season after accounting for all four of the Rams' touchdowns in a 28-14 victory over Texas A&M-Kingsville on Saturday.

The Water Valley native rushed for 173 yards and three touchdowns on 15 carries while adding a receiving touchdown on one of his three receptions for 18 yards. His four-touchdown performance helped Angelo State finish with 450 yards of total offense in the conference victory.

Wiese scored the Rams' first three touchdowns, helping Angelo State build a 21-0 lead heading into the fourth quarter. His longest scoring play came on a 74-yard touchdown run late in the first half, giving the Rams a 14-0 lead at halftime.

Wiese and the Rams return to action Saturday, Oct. 31, when they travel to face UT Permian Basin. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
