WESTBROOK, TX — If you thought Water Valley’s 93-90 win over Rankin earlier this season would be its craziest game, think again.
Water Valley topped it Friday with a 102-100 shootout on the road against Westbrook.

It was another difficult test for Water Valley that the Wildcats passed. They’ve now defeated four teams ranked in the top 15 by sixmanfootball.com.
Water Valley (5-0) will be off next week before opening District 8-1A Division I play at home against Menard (5-0) on Oct. 9 in a highly anticipated showdown. Water Valley is ranked No. 6, while Menard is No. 5.
No. 14 Westbrook (2-3) will be off next week before visiting Klondike to kick off District 5-1A D-I play.
Sonora's Segura Throws for 634 Passing Yards
Sonora quarterback Aaron Segura had an incredible passing performance with 634 yards and seven TDs in a 54-19 win over Colorado City.
Segura completed 38 of 49 passes in the historic game that is believed to be a school record for passing yards.
Angel Diaz had eight catches for 191 yards and a TD, while Wyatt Killough had nine catches for 181 yards and a TD. Jayden Welborn had 10 catches for 115 yards and two TDs, along with an interception on defense.
Armani Coronado had five catches for 48 yards and two TDs, along with 13 tackles. Evan Arredondo also had a 24-yard TD catch.
Jesiah Morrison had a team-high 15 tackles, while Alex Portillo had 11 tackles.
Sonora (4-1 overall, 1-0 in District 4-2A Division I) will visit Christoval next week. Colorado City (3-2, 0-1) will host Ozona.
Robert Lee Holds Off Garden City
The Robert Lee Steers won their third straight game with an 87-82 slugfest over Garden City.
After falling behind 44-42 early in the third quarter, Robert Lee scored back-to-back touchdowns to give the Steers an advantage they would never relinquish.
Garden City scored with 44 seconds remaining, but the Steers recovered the ensuing onside kick to hang on for the win.
Malachi Wauqua led Robert Lee with another big offensive night. He threw for 204 yards and four TDs on 15-of-22 passing, and he had 27 carries for 214 yards and three TDs.
Josh Garcez had three TD runs and a TD catch, along with a team-high 12 tackles.
Major Smith had six catches for 88 yards and a TD. Justice Immel had 11 tackles and two forced fumbles.
Robert Lee (3-2) will be off next week before traveling to Paint Rock to kick off District 7-1A Division I play. Garden City will play its nondistrict finale next week against No. 4-ranked Union Hill in Strawn.
San Saba Runs Past Big Spring Pathway
The San Saba Armadillos piled up 362 rushing yards in a 63-6 win over Big Spring Pathway.
Jason Everett led San Saba with 119 rushing yards and two TDs on only four carries. He also threw two TD passes, completing 4 of 5 passes for 69 yards.
Graden Lebow added three carries for 85 yards and a TD.
On defense, Kaylub Roberts had eight tackles, four tackles for loss, two sacks and two quarterback hurries.
San Saba (3-2) will be off next week before beginning District 7-2A D-I play at Johnson City.
Miles Overwhelmed by Stamford
The Miles Bulldogs lost their District 7-2A D-II opener on the road to Stamford, 68-7.
Miles was led by Ryder Satepauhoodle, who had 20 carries for 65 yards along with two catches for 16 yards.
Liam Yancy threw for 86 yards on 13-of-22 passing, including a TD to Xavier Castaneda.
Miles fell to 2-3 and will face another big challenge next week at home against No. 8-ranked Goldthwaite. Stamford (3-2) will visit Hamlin next week.
Blackwell Takes Down Highland
A handful of big performances led Blackwell to a 62-40 win over Highland.
Slade Wilkinson had 16 carries for 193 yards and two TDs, along with 11 tackles.
Brayden Clayborn threw for 107 yards and three TDs on 6-of-11 passing, had four carries for 55 yards and a TD, and he had 12 tackles and an interception.
Craig Guelker had eight carries for 71 yards and two TDs, three catches for 51 yards and two TDs, and nine tackles and a forced fumble.
Zade Linman had 12 tackles and a TD catch, while Cohlsen Moffett had 13 tackles, a fumble recovery and a TD catch.
Blackwell (3-2) will host Harrold next week in its nondistrict finale.
Mason Sets Rushing Record Against Ingram Moore
The Mason Punchers rushed for a school-record 618 yards in a 55-34 win over Ingram Moore.
Individual stats aren't available yet.
Mason, the No. 2-ranked team in Class 2A Division I, passed another test in a matchup of teams that entered the game with undefeated records. Ingram Moore is a 3A D-I school that won two playoff games last year.
Mason (5-0) will be off next week before hosting Bangs to open District 7-2A D-I play.
