Mason Standout Buell Earns Offer From Fort Lewis College

 

MASON, TX — Mason High School senior Slade Buell has received an offer to play football at Fort Lewis College.

The NCAA Division II school is located in Durango, Colorado.

Buell, a 6-foot-2, 205-pound athlete with 4.6 speed, was the MVP of District 29-2A Division I last year. 

He played at quarterback and running back and rushed for 1,328 yards and eight touchdowns on 219 carries to help lead the Punchers to the state quarterfinals.

He was also an all-state linebacker with 87 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, three sacks, five pass breakups and an interception. 

Buell is one of nine returning starters on offense and eight on defense that has Mason ranked No. 5 in the state heading into the 2026 season.

He has been named the Preseason Offensive MVP by Texas Football in Mason’s new district, 7-2A Division I.
