LEXINGTON, KY — The Angelo State volleyball program was recognized for its excellence in the classroom Wednesday, earning the 2026 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award.
The award is presented annually to programs that maintain a team grade-point average of 3.30 or higher throughout the academic year.
The honor marks the 15th consecutive year the Belles have received the award, dating back to the 2011-12 academic year. The streak is the longest active in the Lone Star Conference and ranks as the 14th longest among NCAA Division II programs.
"We are grateful for the dedication of the coaches and players who make both classroom and on-court success the lifeblood of their programs," AVCA CEO Jaime Gordon said.
Angelo State is coming off yet another successful season in 2025, finishing with a 26-8 overall record and a 15-2 mark in Lone Star Conference play. The Belles captured their second consecutive LSC Tournament championship and advanced to the NCAA South Central Regional final for the second straight season.
The Belles open the 2026 season on Friday, Aug. 28, when they host the Kathleen Brasfield Invitational inside the Junell Center-Stephens Arena.
