Mason’s Appleton Earns Another Division I Basketball Offer

MASON, TX — Fresh off an impressive showing in the Texas Girls Coaches Association All-Star Game on Friday, Mason’s Flora Appleton has picked up her fourth Division I college offer.

Appleton announced the offer from Cal State-Bakersfield, which plays in the Big West Conference.

Appleton, a 6-foot-2 senior guard, had 17 points and 11 rebounds in the TGCA 1A-4A All-Star Game in Arlington. She was one of only 24 players in the state who were chosen to compete.

Appleton also announced an offer from NCAA Division II Arkansas Tech, which joins the list of schools that are recruiting her.

Angelo State is among the schools interested in Appleton. The Rambelles offered her a scholarship last month.

Other schools include San Jose State, Siena and Bellarmine — all of which are Division I programs — and D-II Chaminade.

It has been quite a recruiting journey for Appleton, who began her high school career at Class 1A Richland Springs.

She transferred to Mason before her junior year and helped the Cowgirls go 40-2 and reach their first state final in program history.

Appleton averaged 13.2 points, 4.9 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game last year to earn 2A all-state honors.

She surpassed the 1,000-point career mark last year early in her junior season.

Outside of school, Appleton plays for Phoenix Select Basketball, an AAU team based out of Austin.
