Angelo State's Austin Beck Earns Academic All-American Honors

GREENWOOD, IN  — Angelo State senior infielder Austin Beck added another national honor to his career of accolades on Tuesday, earning First Team Academic All-America recognition from the College Sports Communicators.

Beck, an Allen, Texas native pursuing his MBA, was the Lone Star Conference’s lone representative across all three Academic All-America teams. He earned the honor after maintaining a perfect 4.0 GPA while excelling both academically and on the field.

The Rams’ second baseman capped a historic 2026 season by becoming the first player in NCAA Division II history to surpass 300 career runs scored. He finished his career as the Division II all-time leader with 311 runs.

On the field this season, Beck batted .339 with a .449 on-base percentage and a .560 slugging percentage. He recorded 74 hits, including 30 extra-base hits, while driving in 62 runs and scoring 69 times. He also stole 50 bases, setting Angelo State’s single-season record and extending his program career mark.

The Academic All-America honor adds to a lengthy list of accolades for Beck this season. He earned All-South Central Region recognition from both the D2CCA and NCBWA, was named the Lone Star Conference Academic Player of the Year and received First Team All-LSC honors.

After a red-hot performance at the plate last weekend, Angelo State senior Austin Beck was named the National Hitter of the Week.
