SAN ANGELO, TX — Recruiting interest continues to ramp up for San Angelo Central defensive lineman Riley Oines, who received his first NCAA Division II college offer Saturday.
Oines was offered by the University of Arkansas at Monticello, which joined D-III programs Oberlin and Howard Payne.
Oines, who is listed at 6-foot-2, 277 pounds, has seen action on both sides of the ball for Central, though he’s primarily made his impact as a defensive lineman.
He earned second-team all-district honors as a sophomore and was an honorable-mention selection last season as a junior.
Oines figures to be one of Central’s defensive leaders this fall.
Oines has had a busy offseason attending camps at schools like Texas State, North Texas, Stephen F. Austin and SMU.
Oines is one of a handful of returning Bobcats who have received offers, including offensive lineman Ethan Boyd, who has committed to UTSA, along with quarterback Micah Smith and tight end Tucker Beaty.
Central opens its season at home Aug. 28 against Abilene High.
