SAN ANGELO, TX — San Angelo Central basketball standout TK Taylor made his college plans official recently when he signed with Wayland Baptist University.
Taylor, a 6-foot-6 power forward, led the Bobcats to their best season in 14 years this past spring. He was named the MVP of the San Angelo LIVE! All-Star Basketball Team and earned MVP honors in District 2-6A.
He averaged 18.2 points, 8.6 rebounds, 2 assists, 1.6 steals and 1 block per game. He was also an 80% free-throw shooter.
His steady play helped Central to a 29-6 record, its first undisputed district title since 2012 and a first-round playoff win.
Among his highlights were a tip-in at the buzzer to give Central a 59-58 win over New Braunfels Canyon in the final of the MT Rice Tournament in Hewitt.
He also led the Bobcats to the title at the Doug McCutchen Tournament in San Angelo.
Taylor will now be traveling up the road to Plainview to attend Wayland Baptist, which has a strong basketball program that had a 24-8 record last season and reached the NAIA national tournament.
