CANYON, TX — Angelo State standouts Austin Beck and Brett Smajstrla earned Second Team All-South Central Region honors from the Division II Conference Commissioners Association, the organization announced Monday.
Beck, a redshirt senior second baseman, adds the recognition to a growing list of postseason accolades after also earning regional honors from the NCBWA earlier this month. The Allen native finished the 2026 season with a .339 batting average, a .449 on-base percentage and a .560 slugging percentage for a 1.009 OPS.
Beck ranked among the national leaders with 50 stolen bases and 20 doubles, totaling 30 extra-base hits, including two triples and eight home runs. He also drove in 62 runs and scored 69 times, becoming the first player in NCAA Division II history to surpass 300 career runs.
Smajstrla, a redshirt junior designated hitter, posted a .328 batting average with a .434 on-base percentage and a .561 slugging percentage, finishing with a .995 OPS. The Pearland native recorded 24 extra-base hits, including 11 doubles, six triples and seven home runs, while driving in 51 runs and scoring 57.
He also contributed 19 stolen bases during the season and previously earned Second Team All-Lone Star Conference honors earlier this postseason.
