Christoval Baseball’s Farthest Playoff Push Ended by New Home

 

ANDREWS, TX — The best season in the history of the Christoval baseball program ended Saturday with a 14-3 loss to New Home in Game 2 of the Class 2A Division I regional semifinals.

Christoval jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning, but the Cougars never scored again despite their offense producing nine hits and drawing five walks.

Christoval was ultimately only outhit 10-9 by New Home, but the difference was on defense where the Cougars committed six errors to just one for the Leopards.

Ty DeBusk went 3-for-4 to lead Christoval’s offense, while Logan Malley went 2-for-4. Tucker Boness, Keegan Dean, Slayden Cross and Ryler Hunt also collected a hit.

Christoval’s season ended with a record of 18-8-1 as the Cougars reached the regional semifinals for the first time since their program began in 2018.

New Home improved to 26-7 and advances to the regional final next week against the winner of New Deal and Cisco.
