JUNCTION, TX — Junction senior Quade Sullivan signed Monday to play college baseball at St. Edward’s University in Austin.
Sullivan, a 6-foot, 205-pound catcher/outfielder, hit .429 at the plate this season, and he’s a strong defensive player who rarely commits an error.
During football season, Sullivan was the leader of the Eagles’ offensive line. The first-team all-district center didn’t allow a sack or commit a penalty all year while leading Junction to the state quarterfinals.
Though Sullivan wasn’t able to lead Junction to the baseball playoffs, he garnered recruiters’ attention while playing summer league ball and competing in college showcases.
Sullivan is joining a St. Edward’s team that competes in NCAA Division II in the Lone Star Conference with Angelo State.
While much of the school’s roster is from large cities like Austin, Dallas, Houston and Corpus Christi, Sullivan hopes to make an impact from the small Hill Country town of Junction, home to about 2,500 people.
