ARLINGTON, TX — The NFL is set to release its 2026 schedule this week, and the Dallas Cowboys' first game has already been announced.
The Cowboys will head to New York to take on the Giants on Sept. 13 for the first Sunday Night Football game of the season.
The Dak Prescott-led Cowboys have owned the Giants during his career as he is 14-3 against the division foe. One of those losses was Prescott’s first-ever NFL game, when the then-rookie quarterback threw for 227 yards but no touchdowns or interceptions. Still, the Cowboys lost that game by only one point, 20-19.
One of the other losses came in Week 18 of 2025 when the Cowboys lost 34-17, and backup quarterback Joe Milton took over at halftime. The Cowboys won the first matchup last season in overtime, 40-37.
Overall, Prescott has thrown 31 touchdowns to 9 interceptions over those games.
Historically, the Cowboys and Giants have played 128 times, and the Cowboys hold the advantage, 78-48-2.
One person who isn’t that excited about playing the Cowboys defense is Giants wide receiver Malik Nabors. On draft night, Nabors made it known that the Cowboys drafting Ohio State safety Caleb Downs will be a problem. It will also be the first game under Giants new head coach John Harbaugh.
One rumored game for Dallas is heading to South America and playing the Baltimore Ravens in Brazil this season.
The NFL schedule releases officially on Thursday, May 14.
