INDIANAPOLIS, IN — The Angelo State University baseball team is ranked No. 3 in the first NCAA South Central Regional rankings of the season, the NCAA announced Wednesday.
Colorado Mesa University and the University of Texas at Tyler hold the top two spots in the initial poll, followed by Angelo State at No. 3.
St. Mary's University, Lubbock Christian University, and St. Edward's University round out the top six. MSU Denver and West Texas A&M University occupy the final two positions in the rankings.
The Rams will open postseason play this weekend, hosting Texas A&M University-Kingsville in a best-of-three series in the first round of the Lone Star Conference Championship.
First pitch for Game 1 is scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday, May 2, at Foster Field at 1st Community Credit Union Stadium in San Angelo.
