Angelo State Announces 2026 Holland’s Award Winners

 

SAN ANGELO, TX — Angelo State University hosted its annual Holland's Sports Banquet on Monday night inside the Junell Center, honoring the best performances both in the classroom and on the field or court over the past year.

At the banquet, hosted by Holland's Jewelry, 13 students were given awards in their respective sports, as voted on by their teammates. The winner exemplifies what it means to be an ASU student-athlete in competition, in the classroom, and in the community.

Taking home the award for their team were:

ASU also recognized 84 student-athletes who were named to the 2025-26 Athletic Academic Honor Roll. To be selected, student-athletes must have at least a 3.2 GPA, must be a sophomore in athletic and academic standing, and have completed two semesters at ASU.

The Athletic Academic Excellence Award, a distinction reserved for the student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA, is presented annually to one male and one female. These exceptional individuals have met the following criteria: maintaining a 3.25 GPA, being a junior or senior athletically, attending ASU for a minimum of two semesters, and exhausting one year of eligibility. The male recipient was baseball's Austin Beck, and the female recipient was volleyball's Ireland Ferguson.

The Golden Horn Award is given to a team for outstanding community work and athletic success. This award encompasses what it means to be a student-athlete at Angelo State and to be committed to excellence in the classroom, in the community, and in competition.

With 579 community service hours, a team GPA of 3.513, and a history of winning, the 2026 Golden Horn winner was the volleyball team.

ASU also named the 2026 Kathleen Brasfield Female Athlete of the Year, which was awarded to volleyball player Madi Parrish, and the 2026 Phil George Male Athlete of the Year was given to baseball player Austin Beck.

Parrish, a junior accounting major with a 3.66 GPA from Saginaw, served as a team captain for the Belles this past season, helping lead ASU to a 26-8 overall record and a 15-2 conference record.

The Belles were the LSC Regular Season and Tournament champions, and Parrish was named the LSC Player and Offensive Player of the Year.

After being named the LSC Tournament MVP, she helped the Belles reach the Sweet Sixteen, also earning AVCA First Team All-American honors.

She has recorded 1,184 kills, 107 aces, and 839 digs in her career.

Beck, a redshirt senior pursuing his MBA, has played in and started every game, helping the Rams to a 32-14 record.

Beck leads the Rams with a .374 batting average, six home runs, and 53 RBIs. He holds numerous career records at ASU, including runs scored, stolen bases, total bases and triples.

This past weekend, Beck became ASU's all-time leader in hits and RBIs. He has been named the LSC Hitter of the Week twice this season and the NCBWA National Hitter of the Week once.

In his career, he owns a .373 batting average, a .482 on-base percentage, and a .577 slugging percentage. He has driven in 214 runs and scored 298 times while also stealing 158 bases in his career.

Beck is the active hits, runs scored, and stolen bases leader across all levels of NCAA baseball.
