Dallas Cowboys Agree to Extension with Special Teams Weapon

ARLINGTON, TX — The Dallas Cowboys will have their special teams weapon back after agreeing on a contract extension.

On Monday, April 20, 2026, the Cowboys and kicker Brandon Aubrey agreed to a 4-year, $28 million contract extension that makes him the first kicker to earn $7 million a year and $20 million in guarantees.

Aubrey signed with the Cowboys in 2023 and has already proved to be one of the NFL’s elite special teams players. He holds a number of NFL records and has led the league in several different areas.

Aubrey played high school soccer at Dallas Jesuit and went on to Notre Dame to play the sport. He was selected in the first round, 21st overall, in the 2017 MLS Superdraft by Toronto FC. In 2018, he signed with Bethlehem Steel FC but was released by the club the same year.

In 2022, Aubrey was drafted by the Birmingham Stallions football team before they terminated his contract on July 3, 2023. Just three days later, he signed with the Dallas Cowboys.

Over his career, Aubrey has been a First-Team All-Pro, two-time Second-Team All-Pro, a three-time Pro Bowler, and was the NFL’s leading scorer in 2023. He has made 88.2% of his field goals.

Aubrey’s ability to connect on field goals over 60 yards makes him a huge asset to the Cowboys.

If Aubrey’s career can teach high school student-athletes anything, it’s that they should be a multi-sport athlete.
