Angelo State Baseball Sets Records in Win Over Eastern New Mexico

PORTALES, N.M. – The No. 19-ranked Angelo State University baseball team delivered a record-setting offensive performance in a 26-17 win over Eastern New Mexico on Friday night at Greyhound Baseball Field.

The game lasted 4 hours, 34 minutes and featured 43 combined runs — the most in the Lone Star Conference this season — along with 45 hits, eight errors, eight walks and five hit batters.

ASU set multiple program records, including runs scored in a Lone Star Conference game (26), hits in a game (30), at-bats in a game (57) and RBIs in an LSC game (26).

Individually, Tate Greene set a program record with eight at-bats, while Austin Beck and Chase Pendley each recorded five hits, tying the program mark. Pendley has now reached that total twice in his career.

ASU led 13-3 after the top of the second inning, but ENMU answered with four runs to make it 13-7, setting the stage for the wild slugfest.

The Rams were ahead 16-14 after five innings and 20-17 after seven innings. They finally put the game away with three runs in the eighth and three more in the ninth.

ASU improved to 29-14, while ENMU fell to 15-28. They’ll continue their series with a 3 p.m. doubleheader Saturday in Portales.
