No. 25 Angelo State Looks to Remain Unbeaten Against UT Dallas, UT Tyler

 

SAN ANGELO, TX — Angelo State will look to extend the best start in program history this weekend as the undefeated Rambelles host UT Tyler and UT Dallas in Lone Star Conference action.

Angelo State (19-0) faces UT Tyler at 11 a.m. Saturday before closing the weekend against UT Dallas at 2 p.m., Sunday at the ASU Tennis Complex.

Under fourth-year head coach Jason Potthoff, the Rambelles have surged to a 19-0 record, marking the strongest start in program history.

Angelo State is ranked No. 25 nationally, with two players featured in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings. Vasilissa Kupriianova is ranked No. 24, while Margaux Rene is No. 29. The doubles pairing of Rene and Benedetta Raggiotti is ranked No. 19 nationally.

Sasa Felixova leads the team with a 17-1 singles record, while Kupriianova remains undefeated at 9-0. As a team, the Rambelles are 95-16 in singles play and 39-16 in doubles competition.

Scouting Report: UT Tyler

UT Tyler enters the weekend 14-5 overall and is coming off a 4-3 win over Midwestern State.

The Patriots hold a 75-33 combined singles record, led by Maria Antonio Ortega, who is 15-3. In doubles play, the tandem of Yona Bancarel and Natalia Gorzny leads the team with a 10-6 record.

Angelo State leads the all-time series 5-2, but dropped the most recent meeting 5-2 in March 2025.

Scouting Report: UT Dallas

UT Dallas is 6-9 overall and is coming off a 6-1 loss to Cameron.

Sherly Gerald leads the Comets with a 10-4 singles record, while the doubles pairing of Gerald and Presley Churchman is 8-5. UT Dallas is 35-47 in singles and 22-19 in doubles play this season.

Angelo State will look to maintain its unbeaten run as the regular season nears its conclusion.
