ABILENE, TX — Former San Angelo Central state champion Ryann Honea continues to command attention with her golf game.
Honea, who is now a senior at Abilene Christian University, was named the Western Athletic Conference Golfer of the Week on Thursday.
Honea tied for fifth place last week at Texas A&M’s “Mo” Morial Invitational. She finished just three shots off the lead with a 4-over-par 220, including a final round 1-under-par 71.
This is the second Player of the Week award this season for Honea.
The 2022 Central graduate has claimed six individual titles during her three years at ACU. She also spent one year at the University of Louisville.
Honea won the conference title her sophomore year, and she was named the conference’s Co-Golfer of the Year last season as a junior.
Her college career will soon come to a close as the only tournaments remaining are the WAC Championships from April 20-22, the NCAA Regional from May 11-13, and the NCAA National Championships from May 22-27.
