SAN ANGELO, TX — A Flood Watch is in effect for all of West-Central Texas from early Wednesday morning through Friday morning as multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms are expected to produce widespread rainfall of 2 to 4 inches, with localized amounts of 7 inches or more possible, the National Weather Service reported Tuesday.
Scattered to numerous storms will develop Wednesday morning through Thursday and pose a threat of flash flooding, NWS San Angelo stated. The highest flooding potential is late Wednesday into Thursday. A moderate risk of excessive rainfall is in effect for parts of the region both days.
Rain chances will be medium to high, ranging from 40% to 100%, from Wednesday morning through Saturday, with the greatest chances on Wednesday and Thursday. Main concerns with the storms include heavy rain, flooding, and strong, gusty winds.
A slight risk of severe thunderstorms is forecast for Wednesday afternoon and overnight. A few storms could produce damaging winds up to 60 mph and hail up to the size of a quarter. A tornado is also possible, though the potential is low.
Most likely rainfall totals through Thursday are 1.5 to 2.5 inches in many areas, with a 10% chance of 4 to 6 inches and isolated amounts approaching 10 inches. Flash flooding, urban and small-stream flooding, and hazardous travel conditions are possible.
High temperatures will remain in the low 90s Tuesday and Wednesday before falling into the mid-70s by Friday as cooler air arrives with the rain.
NWS officials urged residents never to drive onto roadways covered in water and never to walk, swim, or drive through flowing floodwaters.

A big fat hail storm sure would get money moving through the local economy. Roofers, glass companies, and car detailers would all see gains. We can only hope and pray.
