SAN ANGELO, TX — A GoFundMe has been created for the man who was shot and killed by a DPS Trooper in San Angelo.
On Sunday, Sept. 20, 2026, Kenneth Cansler, 29, was shot and killed by a DPS Trooper during a traffic stop. Around 1:15 p.m., the trooper initiated a traffic stop on a Chevy passenger car being driven by Cansler near the intersection of Coleman Street and North Harrison Street.
During the stop, an altercation between Cansler and the trooper occurred in which a weapon was introduced by Cansler, according to DPS.
The trooper fired his service weapon, killing Cansler.

As with any officer-involved shooting, the Texas Rangers are investing the shooting, and no other information has been made available.
