SAN ANGELO, TX — Think in a Box escape room has canceled its planned May 24 closing and will remain open.
Owner Lisa Lewis announced the reversal Tuesday, citing an overwhelming outpouring of support from customers and the community, plus ongoing discussions with a potential buyer.
“Discussions with a potential buyer and transition plans for Think in a Box are progressing joyfully!” Lewis stated in an email to customers. “The previously announced closing date of May 24th will NOT be happening. Operations will continue — same location & same rooms.”
The business continues to book rooms and create new “BoxStars.” Lewis encouraged customers who have not yet conquered all seven rooms to visit soon.
The announcement follows last week’s story about the business facing closure after more than eight years. Lewis said the community response overwhelmed the team.
“We are so grateful for the incredible outpouring of support from our customers and community,” she stated. “Your support, prayers and encouragement over the years mean more than words can express.”
Lewis also noted a strong interest in the business’s gamer chairs, jokingly adding that anyone asking for them should be told, “No, you can’t have our chairs!”
