Lake View Looks to Cap Non-District on a High Note
SAN ANGELO, TX — Coming off two heartbreaking overtime losses in two straight weeks, the Lake View Chiefs look to get back on track on Friday when the Chiefs host Pflugerville Connally at San Angelo Stadium.
Lake View (3-3) vs. Pflugerville Connally (1-4)
- When: Friday, Oct. 9
- Where: San Angelo Stadium
- Kickoff: 7 p.m.
Last week, Lake View battled it out with Levelland in a game that came down to the wire before Levelland won 35-34 in overtime.
"I'd definitely like to battle the way we did and have the win," head coach Hector Guevara said at his press conference on Monday. "We fought hard, but just fell short."
Levelland trailed late in the contest but tied the game with six minutes remaining before winning in overtime.
Despite the loss, coach Guevara said that his team will benefit from the experience.
"To be in those situations down the road, it will obviously help out," Guevara said.
Lake View will have to shake off the loss fast as a talented Pflugerville Connally squad comes to town on Friday night.
Connally is a bit hard to read because their district schedule has been so difficult up to this point. The Cougars are in a nine-team district this season and were only allotted one nondistrict game before the long grind began.
The Cougars' lone win of the season came in Week 2 in an overtime victory over Lampasas, 33-32. Since then, Connally has dropped four straight against A&M Consolidated, Georgetown, Killeen and Hendrickson.
The Chiefs need to be ready for senior quarterback Trajin Alexander, who leads the passing attack with over 1,500 yards and 13 touchdowns in 2026. However, Alexander has also thrown 11 interceptions. There are opportunities for Lake View to snag some takeaways.
On the ground, Lake View will need to contend with a committee in the backfield, but with only 300 yards rushing combined on the season, it is clear that Pflugerville Connally lives and dies by its passing attack.
