BALTIMORE, MD — Trevor Lawrence threw for 242 yards and a touchdown as the Jacksonville Jaguars defeated the injury-plagued Baltimore Ravens 33-10 on Thursday night, handing Baltimore its fourth consecutive loss.
Jacksonville (6-2) won for the fifth time in six games and extended its lead in the AFC South to 3 1/2 games.
The Ravens (4-5) struggled offensively with rookie quarterback Joe Fagnano starting in place of injured quarterbacks Lamar Jackson and Tyler Huntley.
Fagnano completed 10 of 18 passes for 60 yards and two interceptions in his first NFL start. Baltimore managed just three points through the first three quarters before scoring a late touchdown.
Jacksonville opened the game with a 77-yard touchdown drive, capped by a 1-yard scoring run from Bhayshul Tuten.
Baltimore attempted to compensate for its quarterback injuries by using several Wildcat formations with running back Derrick Henry taking direct snaps. The Ravens managed a field goal on their opening possession but struggled to move the ball consistently against Jacksonville's defense.
The Jaguars extended their lead late in the second quarter when Lawrence connected with Parker Washington on a 50-yard touchdown pass with 58 seconds remaining before halftime.
Jacksonville led 17-3 at the break.
“That opening drive was huge, just to set the tone,” Lawrence said. “Especially when you get the ball first ... that's something that's important, is to be able to go and get points right away.”
The Jaguars increased their advantage to 20-3 in the third quarter before Baltimore recovered a fumble near midfield.
However, the Ravens failed to capitalize on the opportunity, turning the ball over on downs and drawing boos from the home crowd.
Jacksonville continued to pull away in the fourth quarter, taking advantage of a Baltimore fumble on a kickoff return.
Chris Rodriguez Jr. scored on a 2-yard touchdown run with 7:26 remaining to give the Jaguars a 33-3 lead.
Baltimore answered 11 seconds later when Justice Hill broke free for a 65-yard touchdown run, the Ravens' first second-half touchdown since Week 5.
Hill finished with 85 yards on nine carries, ending Jacksonville's streak of 24 consecutive games without allowing an opposing player to rush for at least 75 yards.
The loss marked the first time in Ravens franchise history that Baltimore has lost three consecutive games by at least 20 points.
The Ravens previously fell 35-13 to Cincinnati and 36-10 to Buffalo.
Baltimore coach Jesse Minter said injuries would not be used as an excuse for the team's struggles.
“Tough situation for our guys. But I just told them, there’s no excuses,” Minter said. “There’s no, ‘Whatever, we don’t have this guy, we don’t have that guy.’”
The Ravens entered Thursday's game with Jackson and Huntley on injured reserve and are awaiting the arrival of veteran quarterback Jacoby Brissett.
Baltimore was also without starting cornerback Nate Wiggins because of an illness and lost safety Kyle Hamilton to a hip injury during the game.
Jacksonville will visit the Tennessee Titans on Nov. 15, while Baltimore will host the Los Angeles Chargers on Nov. 16.
