San Angelo Stadium to Host Fields of Faith Tonight

SAN ANGELO, TX — Student-athletes, coaches and members of the communities in the Concho Valley will gather tonight at San Angelo Stadium for Fields of Faith.

The event is scheduled for 7 p.m. at San Angelo Stadium, 1919 Knickerbocker Road. Fields of Faith is a Christian ministry event designed to bring athletes and students together to hear a message about the Christian faith.

Fields of Faith is a Fellowship of Christian Athletes-certified program that encourages athletes to challenge their peers to read the Bible and grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ and the church. The event is open to anyone in the community.

The San Angelo event will include worship, student testimonies and a closing message from guest speaker Jaxon Shipley, who played high school football at Brownwood and played college for the Texas Longhorns. He was picked up as an undrafted free agent by the Arizona Cardinals.

The Randy Wood Band will be performing live music at the event.

The format is designed to give students an opportunity to hear from other young people about their experiences with faith before hearing the Gospel and being challenged to take the next step in their own faith journey. According to the national Fields of Faith program, attendees can also receive prayer and respond to the message presented during the event.

The event has become one of the largest gatherings hosted by the Concho Valley FCA.

Fields of Faith has a long history in San Angelo. The event began locally in 2009 as an effort to bring area students and churches together around their Christian faith. Previous events have drawn thousands of students to San Angelo Stadium, with students from schools throughout the Concho Valley participating.

FCA works with athletes and coaches through school-based groups, known as huddles, as well as other programs and events. The organization's goal is to use the influence of sports to encourage coaches and athletes to share and grow in their Christian faith.
