Texas Football Features One-Armed Pecos Linebacker

PECOS, TX — Pecos High School senior Josh Carbajal, who has been an inspirational story while playing for the Eagles football team despite having the use of only one fully developed arm, was featured Thursday by Dave Campbell’s Texas Football.

Carbajal was at San Angelo Stadium last Friday when Pecos visited town to play the Lake View Chiefs.

Carbajal made three tackles from his linebacker position, including one solo tackle, and broke up a pass.

Through four games this season, he has made 15 tackles, including six solos and one tackle for loss, with two quarterback hurries and three pass breakups.

He also has two carries for 50 yards and a touchdown.

Carbajal also runs track for Pecos as a member of the Eagles’ relays, in addition to competing in the long jump.

Carbajal was born without a fully developed left arm after suffering amniotic band syndrome when he was in the womb, but it has never slowed him down.

He was presented with Texas Football’s Unsung Hero Award ahead of the team’s season opener against Clint Horizon.

“I want to be an inspiration to other people,” Carbajal said to Texas Football. “I want someone to look at what I’m doing and say, ‘If he can do it, I have no excuse.’ And it doesn’t even have to be football. There’s no reason I should not do something when there’s a kid with one arm excelling at it.”

Carbajal and the Pecos Eagles (3-1) will continue their season when they host Lubbock Estacado on Friday.
