COLEMAN, TX — The Wall Lady Hawks won the team title at the Coleman Invitational Cross Country Meet on Wednesday, while Menard and Bronte claimed individual wins.
The Lady Hawks ran away with the title by placing five runners in the top 14 in a field of 164 runners. Wall scored 41 points, well ahead of runner-up Zephyr’s 115. Comanche was third with 132, followed by Coleman with 160 and Menard with 178.
Wall’s runners who scored points on the two-mile course were Amelia Taylor (3rd place, 12:34), Allison Baird (4th, 12:35), Heaven Jackson (7th, 12:59), Dailyn Beam (13th, 13:11) and Brailey Beam (14th, 13:11).
Menard’s Danni Ruiz won the individual title in a time of 11:53.21. Coleman’s Victoria Guerrero was the runner-up in 12:19.
Other area runners in the top 20 included Coleman’s Savannah Hurtado (5th, 12:47), Bangs’ Adalynne Stephens (6th, 12:57), Ballinger’s Lyla Aguero (10th, 13:03), Menard’s Taytum Chambless (11th, 13:07), Bronte’s Erica Alcorn (18th, 13:26) and San Saba’s Hailey Gilliam (19th, 13:27).
On the boys side, Bronte’s Colton Bilyeu won the individual title out of 131 runners on the three-mile course in 15:30.
Other area runners in the top 20 included Miles’ Ricardo Rivera (4th, 16:08), Eden’s Jorge Mendez (6th, 16:24), Wall’s Zechariah Cuevas (7th, 16:24), Wall’s Harper Moorman (9th, 16:52), Eden’s Joseph Clarke (16:52), Garden City’s Thomas Hillger (13th, 17:00), Wall’s Noah Moorman (16th, 17:16), San Saba’s Isaac Hernandez (17th, 17:17), Wall’s Cinco Cole (18th, 17:20) and Ballinger’s Leo Vasquez (19th, 17:54).
Jim Ned won the team title with 34 points, followed by Wall with 62, Zephyr with 120, Ballinger with 146 and Garden City with 158.
