TEMPE, AZ — Grayson Rigdon, regarded as perhaps the best six-man football player ever, scored his first touchdowns at the college level Saturday for Arizona State.
Rigdon had two catches for 110 yards and two TDs, along with four carries for 22 yards in the Sun Devils’ 70-7 win over Morgan State.
Rigdon broke away on each of his catches for scores of 56 and 54 yards.
Rigdon, a 5-foot-11, 200-pound sophomore, saw sporadic action last year as a freshman with appearances on special teams in six games. He saw his first offensive snaps in ASU’s Sun Bowl game against Duke.
Rigdon was the state’s six-man player of the year for three straight seasons while he compiled a 45-0 record during state-title runs at Strawn (2021) and Benjamin (2022 and ‘23).
He then transferred to 11-man Columbus for his senior year and won another state title at the Class 3A Division I level. He laid to rest any doubts about his ability to transfer from the six-man game with 2,071 rushing yards and 39 TDs while earning MVP honors in the state final.
The dynamic athlete also led the nation in scoring as a basketball player at Benjamin with 45.1 points per game his junior season.
Rigdon will be back in Texas this week when ASU travels to play Texas A&M at Kyle Field in College Station.
