Wall Lady Hawks Win Brownwood Cross Country Invitational

BROWNWOOD, TX — The No. 3-ranked Wall girls cross country team claimed an impressive win Wednesday by taking the title at the Brownwood Invitational.

Led by a third-place finish from freshman Keller Batla, Wall scored 62 points to clip Brock for the title by five points. Amelia Taylor, the defending state tennis champion, also had a top-20 finish.

Brownwood was third with 81 points, while Mason was fourth with 143. San Angelo Central was ninth with 279.

It was the second consecutive strong showing for Wall after the Lady Hawks were third at the Friday Night Lights Invitational in San Antonio last week.

Batla set a school record at that meet by running the two-mile course in 11 minutes, 39 seconds.

Wall’s boys were fourth place out of more than 40 teams at the Brownwood meet.
