Former Central Coach Brent Davis Named President of THSCA

 

PORTLAND, TX — A former San Angelo Central football coach has been named the president of the Texas High School Coaches Association.

Brent Davis, the winningest football coach in San Angelo Central history, will serve a one-year term. He succeeds former president Drew Sanders after serving as the president-elect last year. North Crowley head coach Carlos Lynn was named the president-elect this year.

Davis has nearly 40 years of coaching experience over his career. Davis coached the Bobcats from 2009 to 2020 and had a record of 95-46. He won six district titles and claimed 10 playoff trophies. 

Davis left the Bobcats in 2021 to take over at Gregory-Portland, where he has a current record of 42-19. He has a 237-112-1 career record.

Davis, who attended high school at Corpus Christi Calallen and Wolfforth Frenship, played football at Angelo State University. He also had coaching stops in Banquete, Sinton, The Colony and Alice.
