OXNARD, CA — The Dallas Cowboys are expected to sign veteran pass rusher Von Miller to a one-year contract, according to a source at ESPN.
First reported by ESPN's Adam Schefter, the addition brings the former Super Bowl MVP back to his home state as he enters his 15th NFL season. Miller attended DeSoto High School before starring at Texas A&M University.
At 37, Miller owns 138.5 career sacks, the most among active NFL players. He is expected to join a Cowboys pass-rush rotation that includes Rashan Gary, Donovan Ezeiruaku, first-round draft pick Malachi Lawrence, and potentially Sam Williams, James Houston and Marist Liufau.
Miller appeared to foreshadow the move throughout the offseason, posting on social media about the possibility of joining Dallas, including sharing an image of himself wearing a Cowboys uniform.
He is coming off a 2025 season with the Washington Commanders in which he recorded nine sacks, his highest total since posting 9.5 sacks during the 2021 season while splitting time between the Denver Broncos and the Los Angeles Rams.
Selected by Denver with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft, Miller has earned eight Pro Bowl selections and seven first- or second-team All-Pro honors. He was named the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2011 and finished second in Defensive Player of the Year voting twice.
Miller was also named the Most Valuable Player of Super Bowl 50 after helping lead the Broncos to a victory alongside former Cowboys linebacker DeMarcus Ware.
Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones previously hinted during training camp that the club could add another impact defender. The signing comes less than a week after Dallas agreed to a three-year, $105.9 million contract extension with defensive tackle Quinnen Williams.
Miller is also familiar with Cowboys defensive coordinator Christian Parker, who worked with him during their time together in Denver before Miller was traded to the Rams, where he won his second Super Bowl championship.
After his stint with Los Angeles, Miller signed with the Buffalo Bills, where injuries, including a torn ACL, limited him during parts of three seasons before he joined Washington last year.
