Colts Sign Jonathan Taylor to Two-year, $44 Million Extension

INDIANAPOLIS, IN — Jonathan Taylor has agreed to a two-year, $44 million contract extension with the Indianapolis Colts, according to ESPN.

The deal has a maximum value of $47 million and includes $39 million guaranteed, making it the third-largest contract for a running back in NFL history. Taylor's new agreement keeps him under contract through the 2028 season.

The extension comes two days after Bijan Robinson signed a record-setting extension with the Atlanta Falcons, continuing a surge in the running back market.

Taylor, 27, had entered the final year of the three-year extension he signed with Indianapolis in 2023 following a lengthy contract dispute with the team.

Earlier this week, Taylor acknowledged Robinson's deal could help move negotiations forward.

After battling injuries during the 2022 and 2023 seasons, Taylor has returned to form over the past two years. In 2025, he led the NFL with 323 rushing attempts and 18 rushing touchdowns while finishing with 1,585 rushing yards. He also set career highs with 46 receptions and 378 receiving yards.

Since entering the league in 2020, Taylor ranks second in the NFL in rushing yards (7,598) and scrimmage touchdowns (76), trailing only Derrick Henry.

Taylor also ranks second in Colts franchise history with 7,598 career rushing yards, behind only Hall of Famer Edgerrin James, who rushed for 9,226 yards.
