Former Angelo State Pitcher Signs With Toronto Blue Jays

SAN ANGELO, TX — A former Angelo State baseball player has signed with the Toronto Blue Jays organization.

Dax Dathe found a home with the Blue Jays as an undrafted free agent. He played his high school baseball at Stony Point in Round Rock before starting his college career at the University of Houston.

He transferred to Grayson College for two seasons and then to Texas Tech for one year before ending up at ASU for two seasons. For his last year of eligibility, Dathe transferred to LSU.

At Houston, Dathe appeared in four games, but due to COVID, the season was shortened. When he transferred to Grayson College, he was named a first-team All-Conference utility player in 2022, then appeared in five games for Texas Tech in 2023.

Dathe played for ASU in 2024 and 2025 and was named all-conference and all-region each year.

Dathe will now try to work his way through the Blue Jays' minor league system.
