SAN ANTONIO, TX — The San Antonio Spurs face elimination in a critical Game 6 of the Western Conference Finals against Oklahoma City in San Antonio on Thursday night. The Thunder are one win away from returning to the NBA Finals after taking a 3-2 series lead over the San Antonio Spurs last Tuesday.
Oklahoma City secured Game 5 despite playing without two key shot creators, Jalen Williams and Ajay Mitchell, both sidelined with injuries. The Thunder have leaned on depth and perimeter shooting to stay in control of the series.
San Antonio has dealt with its own injury concerns. De'Aaron Fox missed the first two games of the series, while Dylan Harper has been limited since Game 2. The Spurs return home for Game 6, where they earned a dominant 103-82 win in Game 4.
All eyes will be on Victor Wembanyama, who struggled in Game 5 and now faces the first elimination game of his career.
Game 6 is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Thursday at the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, with the Spurs listed as slight favorites. A Spurs win would force a decisive Game 7, while a Thunder victory would send Oklahoma City to the NBA Finals for the second consecutive season, where they would face the New York Knicks.
Las Vegas has the Spurs listed as 3.5-point favorites in this matchup, with the over/under listed at 218.5. Last time the Thunder traveled to San Antonio, the Spurs blew Oklahoma City out of the building, 103-82, in Game 4.
San Antonio will need some of that same magic once again to extend the series. There have been constant concerns over the level of officiating in exery single series the Thunder have played so far throughout the playoffs. It seems the NBA's darling, the Thunder, will continue to spark controversy as Oklahoma City looks to defend its title.
