SAN ANGELO, TX — Angelo State has finalized its football coaching staff for the 2026 season with the additions of Rob Messinger and Dennis Osagiede, head coach Jeff Girsch announced.
Messinger will serve as wide receivers coach and recruiting coordinator, while Osagiede joins the program as defensive line coach.
Messinger brings more than two decades of coaching experience to Angelo State, including the past three seasons at Butler Community College, where he served as offensive coordinator. During his tenure, Butler produced 20 offensive players who advanced to the Division I level, and in 2025 ranked among the top 20 nationally in points per game, rushing offense, and red zone scoring.
"A coach that I've known throughout the profession and have a lot of respect for," Girsch said. "He's been an elite recruiter everywhere he's been; that's something that was huge for me. With his experience as an offensive coordinator within the conference, he has a strong understanding of what we're going to face week to week. I was excited about getting the opportunity of getting him here to work with the guys and this staff."
He previously coached in the Lone Star Conference at UT Permian Basin from 2019 to 2022, where he held multiple roles, including offensive coordinator, assistant head coach, and wide receivers coach. During that time, he coached the conference’s Player of the Year at wide receiver.
Osagiede joins Angelo State after one season at Colorado State-Pueblo, where he coached defensive tackles. The ThunderWolves finished 10-2 overall and 9-0 in conference play, winning the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference championship while ranking among the league’s top defenses against the run.
"Coach O is an outstanding football coach. He's young, energetic, and a great relationship builder," Girsch said of his new d-line coach. "Everything jumped out at us that he was the right guy for the job. Running his own room and coaching the defensive line was something he couldn't wait to do here at Angelo State. He's played the position of defensive tackle, and he worked for some great coaches at Pueblo, who I have a lot of respect for."
A Houston native, Osagiede began his coaching career at Belton High School, where he coached defensive line in 2023 and running backs in 2024.
