RICHARDSON, TX — Angelo State outfielder Austin Beck was named the Lone Star Conference Hitter of the Week on Tuesday after a dominant performance at the plate during the Rams’ road trip to Alpine against Sul Ross State last weekend.
Beck, a redshirt senior from Allen, Texas, batted .625 with a .700 on-base percentage and a 1.063 slugging percentage for a 1.763 OPS. He accounted for 40% of Angelo State’s run production, driving in 10 runs while scoring 12 times.
He now leads the conference with eight doubles and is tied for the league lead in both RBIs (19) and stolen bases (seven).
No. 11 Angelo State returns home to open a four-game series against Oklahoma Christian beginning Friday. First pitch at Foster Field at 1st Community Credit Union Stadium is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
