SAN ANGELO, TX — Water Valley and Veribest claimed some of the top honors on the Texas Six-Man Coaches Association All-State Volleyball Team.
Water Valley sophomore McCaylen Woods was named the state’s Offensive MVP, while junior Rylee Sears earned Defensive MVP honors.
Veribest freshman Kaci York was named Newcomer of the Year.
Water Valley junior middle blocker Janaye Coston and junior setter Autumn Fitzpatrick were each named to the all-state first team, along with Veribest junior libero Chloe Becker.
Earning second-team recognition was Veribest senior middle blocker Shaelee Leal.
Water Valley had an exciting run to the state final after finishing as the runner-up in its district. The Lady Cats lost to Blum in the state championship match and finished with a record of 26-15.
Veribest won a district title and three playoff trophies before losing to Water Valley in the regional final. The Lady Falcons finished 31-10.
The Class 1A state champion, Blum, had the state’s MVP (Kinsley McPherson), the Setter of the Year (Tallie Rufino), the Libero of the Year (Addie Koetting) and the Coach of the Year (Lauren McPherson).
