LAWTON, OK — Cameron closed the game on a 13-0 run to hand Angelo State a 76-71 loss Thursday night at Aggie Gym, spoiling the Rams’ first road trip of the new year.
Angelo State (11-6, 2-4 Lone Star Conference) led by eight with under two minutes to play before the Aggies surged ahead, outscoring the Rams 13-0 over the final 1:54 to secure the comeback win.
The Rams shot 45.9% from the field and 35% from 3-point range but were unable to withstand the late push.
Kailon Nicholls paced Angelo State with 20 points, adding three rebounds, two assists and two steals. Freshman guard Davon Scott, playing his first collegiate game in his home state of Oklahoma, finished with 15 points and hit 3 of 5 from beyond the arc.
Jaqai Murray and Ashraf Barsham scored 10 points apiece, while Barsham pulled down a team-high nine rebounds — one short of his first double-double with the Rams. Zyon Little added five points and eight rebounds, and Jhordan Ryan contributed four points and seven rebounds. Angelo State dominated the glass with a 36-25 rebounding advantage.
The Rams continue their Oklahoma road swing Saturday at Oklahoma Christian, which is coming off a two-point loss to UT Permian Basin.
