Wall, TLCA Marching Bands Finish in Top 5 at State

SAN ANTONIO, TX — The Wall and TLCA San Angelo marching bands each had their best showings ever Wednesday at the UIL Class 3A state contest with top-five finishes.

Wall took third place, while TLCA was fifth out of 25 schools.

Wall is led by band director Dustin Moses. TLCA is under the guidance of Kevin Dukes.

Mineola won the state title with a near-unanimous agreement from the judges, claiming four of the top five scores. Raymondville was second place, and Redwater was fourth.

Another West Texas school, Crane, was eighth.

This was Wall’s sixth appearance at the state contest. The Hawks reached the finals for the first time last year and finished in ninth place.

TLCA was making its fourth appearance at state, all of them since 2023. The Eagles’ previous best finish was 14th place the last two years, but they broke through to the finals for the first time Wednesday.

The top-five showings by Wall and TLCA added to the Concho Valley’s outstanding marching band season as Menard won the 1A state title Tuesday, while Irion County was fourth and Water Valley was 11th.

The Wall High School marching band is showing during the 2026-27 school year.
