SAN ANGELO, TX — The Roosevelt Lofts has been named a finalist in the Best Rehabilitation/Restoration/Renovation category of the 2026 Texas Downtown President’s Awards.
The statewide program recognizes outstanding projects, places and people contributing to the vitality of Texas downtowns. Winners will be announced Wednesday, Nov. 4, at the President’s Awards Gala in Amarillo, held in conjunction with the Texas Downtown Annual Conference Nov. 1-4.
The Roosevelt Lofts occupies the historic Roosevelt Hotel, also known as the Rainbow Hotel, at 50 N. Chadbourne St. The building sat vacant for nearly 30 years after operating as a hotel and was exposed to deterioration and neglect. Overland Property Group invested in the property and transformed the long-vacant structure into residential lofts while preserving its connection to the community’s past.
“The rehabilitation of the Roosevelt Lofts fills a once-vacant space with new life, creates optimism for future downtown development, and shows what’s possible when we invest in our community’s history and future," said Monica Ramos, director of Downtown San Angelo Inc. "We're ever so grateful for Overland Property Group coming in to save the historic Roosevelt Hotel."
This year, 155 entries were submitted from communities across Texas. Design and Achievement entries were evaluated by separate judging panels for communities with populations under 50,000 and over 50,000.
Design entries for communities over 50,000 were judged by Shelly Ashcroft; Jeff Salmon, director; Krista Nightengale, Better Block; and Brisa Byford, Civic Brand.
