San Angelo State Park to Hold Monarch Migration Event Saturday

 

SAN ANGELO, TX — San Angelo State Park is inviting the public to experience the monarch butterfly migration Saturday, Oct. 10, as they make their way through the park during their journey to Mexico.

The program is free with regular park admission, which costs $4. Children 12 and younger are free.

The program begins at 9 a.m. and will run until 10:30 a.m. It will be held at the Bell’s Trailhead and can be accessed from the North Entrance of the park off FM 2288.

Visitors will need to check in at the South Entrance, 362 S. FM 2288, to pay park entrance fees and receive the gate code for the North Entrance. 

There will be a short presentation before a guided hike down Shady Trail to the monarch waystation. 

Visitors are encouraged to bring a chair for the presentation, comfortable walking shoes, water, sun protection, and binoculars or a camera.

They're flapping, they're landing in your diet coke, they're in your face. Some are really pretty, I'm sure. These bugs have to go back. Ice will be here this winter.
