Fundraiser Started After Death of Wall Elementary Student

WALL, TX — A fundraiser has been started for the family of Payton Hart Linthicum, a 9-year-old Wall Elementary School fourth grader who died Sunday in an accident.

The Spotfund page listed $12,025 raised from 74 donors toward a $10,000 goal as of early Monday afternoon. It said donations would go toward funeral and memorial expenses, time away from work, and other unexpected costs.

It asked people who cannot give money to pray for her parents, siblings and others who loved her.

The page identified the family as the Dickson and Linthicum family and said Linthicum was born Feb. 12, 2017.

The San Angelo Fire Fighters Association shared the fundraiser Sunday and wrote, “This is one of our firefighter families. Please consider supporting.”

In a letter shared and posted by the Wall Elementary administration team, they told families that school officials had informed students that morning of Linthicum’s death. The letter called her a valued part of the school family and said her loss would be felt throughout the district.

Administrators spoke directly with students, and counselors and other support staff were available during the day for students and employees who needed someone to talk to, the letter stated.

Wall Elementary’s statement also asked the school community to keep Linthicum’s family and loved ones in their thoughts and prayers, and said teachers, staff, and counselors would continue to offer support.
