SAN ANGELO, TX -- The San Angelo Police Department, alongside the San Angelo Fire Department, Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office, and Goodfellow Air Force Base, are hosting a public 9/11 memorial service at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 11, 2026.
The service will take place at the City’s 9/11 monument near Celebration Bridge along the Concho River, adjacent to the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts, 1 Love St, with vehicle displays positioned along 300 S Oakes St.
Prior to the start of the service, notifications will be made according to the following timeline. During this time, the ASU string quartet will be playing music.
- 7:46 a.m. CDT (Flight 11 / North Tower hit)
- 8:03 a.m. CDT (Flight 175 / South Tower hit)
- 8:37 a.m. CDT (Pentagon hit)
- 8:59 a.m. CDT (South Tower collapse)
- 9:03 a.m. CDT (Flight 93 crashes)
- 9:28 a.m. CDT (North Tower collapse)
There will be a moment of silence, and the service will begin.
The local 9/11 memorial was dedicated on Sept. 8, 2003, in honor of those who died in the attacks.
San Angelo is one of the few memorials in Texas that includes a piece of steel from Ground Zero in New York City, with our piece being donated in 2017 by the Velez family.
The public is invited to join in remembrance of all those who died and to honor those who fell in the service of others.
