SAN ANGELO, TX — Walmart and Sam’s Club will introduce Tap to Pay as a contactless payment option at select U.S. stores and clubs beginning Aug. 24, with plans to expand it to all locations by the end of 2026 and to fuel stations by mid-2027, according to a press release.
The feature allows customers and members to pay using eligible contactless cards, phones or smartwatches. Eligible Walmart, Sam’s Club and OnePay cards can also be added to digital wallets for contactless use.
Tap to Pay joins existing options including cash, credit cards and Walmart Pay, which lets shoppers pay through the Walmart app, view purchases and receipts, and access Walmart+ fuel savings. At Sam’s Club, members can continue using Scan & Go to scan and pay while shopping and bypass traditional checkout lines.
The addition is part of Walmart’s broader financial services offerings that help customers and members manage money, save, build credit and pay over time. Sam’s Club members have access to Sam’s Cash rewards and Sam’s Club credit, with opportunities to earn Sam’s Cash on qualifying purchases.
