La Esperanza Clinic CEO to Step Down at End of 2026

SAN ANGELO, TX - After eight accomplished years serving as the Chief Executive Officer of La Esperanza Clinic, Dean Munn has announced that he will conclude his tenure as CEO at the end of 2026.

Following a 25-year career in public education, Munn joined La Esperanza in February 2019 and guided the clinic through a period of "remarkable growth by strengthening the clinic's mission and expanding access to quality healthcare throughout the Concho Valley," the clinic stated.

"Serving the patients, employees, providers and community partners of La Esperanza Clinic has been one of the greatest privileges of my professional career," Munn stated. "Together, we have built an organization that is stronger, more resilient and better positioned to meet the healthcare needs of our community for years to come. While I am excited for the next chapter of my life, I will always be grateful for the opportunity to serve alongside such an extraordinary team."

During his time as CEO, the clinic expanded access to care with the opening of La Esperanza Clinic West, was named Business of the Year by the Leadership San Angelo Alumni Association and most recently earned HRSA's 2025 Health Center Quality Leader Gold Badge designation, placing the clinic among the top 10% of community health centers nationwide for patient outcomes on select quality measures.

Munn is known by colleagues and the community for his approachable leadership style, optimism and dedication to building a people-centered culture that encourages innovation without losing sight of the employees, patients and community found at the heart of the organization, the clinic stated.

"It is impossible to express the impact Dean Munn has had on La Esperanza Clinic," said David Vessell, Chair of the La Esperanza Clinic Board of Directors. "Dean has established a culture that is second to none in meeting the healthcare needs of the Concho Valley area. He has put in place the systems and processes necessary to operate a first-rate organization and has developed and empowered staff who will maintain a standard of excellence well into the future. It has been an honor to work with Dean, and I am proud to call him my friend."

Munn will continue serving through Dec. 31, 2026, and work with the Board of Directors to ensure a seamless leadership transition as the board begins its search for the next Chief Executive Officer.

"Munn's leadership has helped position La Esperanza Clinic for continued success and the board is committed to maintaining the strong momentum established during Munn's tenure while building on the clinic's strong foundation," information from the clinic stated. "Guided by an exceptional team advancing the mission of providing quality primary, preventive health, and dental care services to all people, La Esperanza Clinic looks forward to continuing to meet the community's evolving healthcare needs and expanding access to high-quality, affordable care throughout the Concho Valley for generations to come."
