SAN ANGELO, TX — A Lake View High School mathematics educator has been selected as Top Mathematical Visionary of the Decade for 2026 by the International Association of Top Professionals.
Saundra Paschal, who teaches Algebra II and pre-calculus and coaches the school’s mathematics team in the San Angelo Independent School District, will be honored at IAOTP’s annual awards gala later this year at the Plaza Hotel in New York City. The organization said only a few members in each discipline receive the distinction, based on professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, longevity in the field, affiliations and community contributions.
Paschal has spent 46 years in mathematics education, beginning as a teacher’s aide. She earned a Bachelor of Science in mathematics with a minor in biology from Angelo State University in 1980. She also advises on books for publication and has served on the district’s curriculum writing team. She is involved with the Texas Math and Science Coaches Association and ASCD, and volunteers at her local church and other charitable organizations.
Her previous honors include Teacher of the Year in 2000, VIP of the Year by Cambridge Who’s Who in 2011, Worldwide Lifetime Achievement Award and recognition as one of the Elite Women Worldwide in 2012 and 2013, Top Educator of the Year by IAOTP, Empowered Woman of the Year in 2019 (with a feature on the Reuters Building in Times Square), Lifetime Achievement Award and Top 50 Fearless Leaders recognition in 2022, Top Global Hero Award in Education in 2023, IAOTP’s Presidential Award in 2024, and the Trailblazer Award and Executive Choice Award last year. This year she will also receive the Top Master Educator in Mathematics of the Year Award.
“I will continue to share my love of mathematics,” Paschal said. “My great joy is seeing the ‘light’ in students’ eyes when they comprehend mathematics and realize that they do understand mathematics.”
