SAN ANGELO, TX — Fort Concho is hosting National Cowboy Day on Saturday, July 25, featuring an art show and a Concho Cowboy Company skit.
It will be from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Fort Concho, 630 S. Oakes St.
The event is free and open to the public, and a light breakfast will be provided.
The event will begin inside the American Plains Artists Western Art Show in the Fort’s Quartermaster Gallery at Burgess Street and East Avenue C.
At 9:30 a.m., Laura Huckaby, San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts curator, will present a short program about the exhibit, which features 70 paintings and sculptures showcasing a wide range of western themes.
At 10 a.m., the renowned Concho Cowboy Company, celebrating their 20th anniversary this year, will perform one of their popular skits in the field outside the Quartermaster.
The art show will remain open until 4 p.m. Saturday. It will also be open from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, July 26.
Regular hours of 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. will continue on future weekdays and Saturdays, and 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Sundays (closed Mondays) through Sunday, Aug. 2.
