SAN ANGELO, TX — The Tom Green County Sheriff's Office is partnering with the Texas Department of Transportation in an enhanced traffic safety initiative to identify and remove impaired drivers from roadways during the Independence Day holiday period.
The enforcement effort runs from June 19 through July 6, 2026, and aims to protect residents and visitors traveling in Tom Green County.
The sheriff's office urged responsible celebration. Anyone consuming alcohol should use a designated driver, rideshare service, taxi or other safe transportation, the office stated.
Additional deputies will be deployed throughout the holiday period to support TxDOT's efforts to detect and deter impaired driving.
The sheriff's office said it remains committed to protecting the community.
"Together, we can make this Independence Day holiday safe for everyone. Drive sober," the office stated.
