San Angelo VFW Post 1815 Urgently Seeks Parking Lot Help

SAN ANGELO, TX — VFW Post 1815 is urgently seeking additional quotes from local paving companies — particularly veteran-owned businesses — or community donations to replace its parking lot and continue serving area veterans.

Kelly Self, quartermaster and incoming commander of the post at 125 South Browning, said the nonprofit has already received quotes from two major local paving companies. One is possibly attainable while the others are too expensive, Self stated in a May 18 Facebook post.

"This is a critical situation which MUST be resolved as soon as possible in order to continue operations,” Self stated. “We need the community's help!!! ASAP!!!”

The organization serves veterans throughout the Concho Valley and Tom Green County. It has about 232 members in an area where roughly 25% of the population is veterans.

VFW Post 1815 traces its roots to 1928, when Spanish-American War veterans established the post.

A VFW chapter has been active here since 1930.

The nonprofit relies on community goodwill and asks anyone who can help to contact the post.
